Over the past several weeks, the confusion over the stance of the Orange County Board of Elections (OCBOE) and its appointed commissioners has reached a frenzied crescendo. This is largely due to the actions of the Orange County grass-roots anti-corruption group, United Monroe, and several private citizens who wanted transparency on the election process. Now that more has information emerged about Harley Doles’ resolution to surrender Lead Agency status in the DEC Annexation deal with Kiryas Joel, a.k.a. “The Monday Surprise”, we now have much more of an understanding of the underhanded manner in which the Monroe Town Supervisor wants to systematically dismantle the town in order to hand it over lot-by-lot to developers for high density development. During a very long and contentious Town Board Meeting on Monday, July 7th, Monroe Town Supervisor Harley Doles once again showed the voters and taxpayers of the Town of Monroe that his ethical compass does not point to true North.
